StyleTap to bring Palm OS to iPhone!

Its official! StyleTap is officially going to support the iPhone and iPod Touch. Some of you may recall the video that came out in February where StyleTap was showing a demo on an iPhone. Well, now they are going to release the product. This will make competition even more difficult for Palm as now the software products that support it can be used on a main competitor. See this link for more info:

StyleTap Officially Coming to the iPhone and iPod Touch

Not sure they'd be much point to this, a PalmOS app will run just the same as if it was on a Treo so you would get no benefit from running it on an iPhone. Apart from a few specialist apps that are PalmOS only what else would you want to run

Bejewled of course!

All kidding aside, it actually could be an alright thing. Apple will be heavily regulating software that they put in their store for release, and this could be the place for people who want software Apple won't allow for the iPhone directly. I know thats to filter out the crummy apps, and I know Palm has quite a few, but there are some real winners too. There's an off chance it could actually spur development.

I think of it this way. Suppose someone thinks iPhone looks kinda cool, but has a considerable investment in Palm software, which keeps them from moving to the iPhone. Now with StyleTap, they can move all their software and get all the functionality of the iPhone. I personally won't switch because the iPhone lacks a keyboard (non touch screen variety), and lacks a number of things that the Palm has. I thought it was interesting that the iPhone lost some market share while Palm recently gained some market share (albeit ever so slightly).
