Pretty rough and to the point. I'd have to agree.

I hate to be glib, but geez Palm, Duh! That's what I thought years ago when hubby and I first heard that Palm Source was being sold. I could kind of understand Palm spinning off the OS division into a separate company, but to let it completely out of the family fold?

I have loved my Palms and have never had the oppportunity to try one of the handhelds that licenced the Palm OS like the original Handsprings or the Clies, but what makes my Palm unique to me is the OS! being able to escape the Microsoft fold. To me, it's rather like selling off the chickens because you'd rather concentrate on selling eggs.

For what it's worth, I hope they succeed.

I like the analogy

The thing is Access know they'll get a license fee from Palm every year for the use of PalmOS so the amount they'd want to give up control would be quite high I expect, probably more that Palm would be willing to pay.
