![]() ![]() | In-Flight Cellphone/WiFi?? WSJ Article The Wall Street Journal Tuesday, January 08, 2008, had an interesting tidbit in an article entitled; “What Fliers Can Expect-Good and Bad- in ‘08”. We are likely to see more cellphone use made available to us. Air France’s Airbus A318 will offer in service texting and email. It is also expected to allow the use of actual voice calls if the 6-month trial goes well. Some other carriers will be: “opting for a more civilized offering of in-flight WiFi with voice capabilities blocked so you don’t have to listen to a seat mate negotiate a deal or argue with a spouse.” Several airlines, American among them are either testing or commencing WiFi service this year. American, of course, will be charging an additional fee for this service, and it will be available in all cabins of its transcontinental 767-200 fleets. A small side bar for those frequent oversees travelers. We have a small victory, but a victory nonetheless. The British authorities dropped the ridiculous one bag only carry-on limit. But, this allowance will be available only at some UK airports, including Heathrow. Yeah! My make-up alone takes up that allowance. ![]() Last edited by eclair; 01-08-2008 at 09:21 PM.
