Sling Media and Palm Expand Mobile TV Viewing Experience With Introduction of SlingPlayer Mobile for Palm OS

LAS VEGAS, Jan 08, 2007 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Sling Media, Inc., a digital lifestyle products company, and Palm, Inc. (Nasdaq:PALM), a leader in mobile computing, today announced SlingPlayer(TM) Mobile for Palm OS(R), making it possible to watch television on the 3G-enabled Palm(R) Treo(TM) 700p smartphone.(1) The new software, expected to be available Q1 '07, will be demonstrated at the Anytime-Anywhere Tech Zone in the Sands Expo & Convention Center, Sling Media booth, No. 69430.

For those of you with a Treo 700p and Sprint EV-DO ... the Slingplayer Palm OS Beta is SWEET! Ran it for an hour straight while driving from Cincinnati to Columbus and it didn't skip a beat. Outstanding product and tops on my list for watching TV. (although the screen is small for anything but a talking head ... not a reference to the above photo.

) Posting a bit more on my blog.

I was sent an off mail request asking if the image on the Slingplayer beta was readable and thought I would post the photo that I sent. IMHO ... if your eyes are 'young' enough, you can read the print ... otherwise a pair of reading glasses are helpful.

Wow, the picture looks great. Of course I understand it is not my 60in. Plasma, but wow. I think I am going to spring for this. I would love to watch my D-backs while at work. Also, the Suns of course!

As long as nothing too major changes in the Palm OS, it should work fine with the 755p.

I have sling box for my laptop computer and I love it. I can watch anything I have recorded or live TV or Movie Channels. I have a treo 700p thru sprint. Can I get software to run sling media on my treo? I do not pay any charges monthly or other wise for use on my laptop. Is there a charge to use it on your treo???

There's no charge for using the Slingplayer software but as it uses the data connection on your Treo you might be charged by Sprint for the data usage depending on what contract you've got.

...and the current Slingplayer beta will most likely eventually come as a charge. The second release is due to expire in 24 days. (they might renew if more work needs to be done ... so test it and provide feedback on the Palm OS Sling community forum)

....and, if you are worried about charges, get the $20 sprint power vison plan. It offers unlimited data and unlimited picture messaging.....
