Jon Rubinstein appointed CEO of Palm!

Jon Rubinstein has replaced Ed Colligan as CEO of Palm

SUNNYVALE, Calif. - (Business Wire) Palm, Inc. (Nasdaq: PALM) today announced that its board of directors has appointed Jon Rubinstein to lead the company as Chairman and CEO upon the departure of Ed Colligan, who is stepping down after sixteen years of leadership at the company. Rubinstein, who joined Palm as Executive Chairman in October 2007 to help bring innovation back to the company, assumes his role as CEO on June 12. Colligan plans to take some time off, then join Elevation Partners.

I know, I was just reading that! I am shocked! I know Colligan ain't famous but I think he did a good job for Palm. Wow.

As far as Pre sales, Sprint ain't tellin' They are just saying best day ever. No exact numbers that I have found. Sneaky.

I know, I figured they would have some kind of sales for the weekend. Why are they hiding stuff. I know one twitter bud that I follow who is returning her Pre. Why? The app store and she lost 3 pixels on her screen already. 3 pixels already? Really? Come on Palm, this is not the come back device!

Not only that whenever someone loses a pixel or two it always seems to be dead center!
Probably Sprint does not WANT anyone to know the sales figures yet, until it's a hit or not as the case may be. We will all know by year end, they can't hide it forever. I will keep scanning the WSJ And NYT for goodies.



Maybe next year some others will join in the fun in OK . Maybe TazUK and fiancée.

No official figures but the estimates are that 50,000 Pre's were sold over the weekend.

Back to the original topic, I did wonder why we hadn't seen much from Ed since the initial Pre announcement.

Yeah, I wondered too. Was he booted, strongly told to leave or just took a pay raise. That is what I want to know. 50K? That is disappointing to say the least.

Agreed, it was shown on Sprint ads, but not explained, or named (or was named briefly). It's getting some decent press now, so people who want or have to stay with Sprint should be looking. I know one of my best friends is considering it, once his contract is up (October if I remember correctly). He's got the Instinkt now, and likes portions of it, but particularly wants to be able to access his Slingbox, so what ever he gets will need an app for that.
