need help bad with my treo 700...new to this forum thing - Treo Forum

well a few hours ago my phone was on then i was playing some game and it froze on me then went into a white screen and has been on ever since then...well just a couple of moments ago i guess it ran out of battery...well anyways it froze on me once before and i had to do a hard reset...i tried it again and it went to the screen of english or spanish or somewhat...then to the next are you sure you want it in english and just froze...then the white screen came up again....CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME....MY TREO 700 IS MY LIFE...LOL

White screen of death , eh ? Was the 700p hooked up to a charger when you attempted to peform the hard reset ? If not ,pull the battery out for 30 sec . Then plug the phone to the charger , then with the battery in the phone perform the hard reset . If that fails . Blame it on verizon . On a sereous note, it could mean a number of things . But primarily , your battery is shot . In english , it no longer holds the charge . So it's time to get a new one .

so its just my battery????? well after i read it i went ahead and took the battery off the treo and put the charger plug back on...then i tried to do a hard reset and it still showing the white screen....is that supposed to happen?

hi...i see you replied with a post to my question... well i did what that guy told me to do on the post and i did a hard reset and still white screen. is that still going to happen?
is there something else wrong with the phone or its just a dead battery?

Mark , it seems like ,you are running short on dbcache. hence the white screen of death . If not caught early in the process, and sometimes unavoidably, this results in a complete lock-up of the treo from which no reset recovers, not even a hard reset. Since you are not able to do that . The only alternative is to remove power from the device. There are three ways to do this: take the battery out, let the treo run the battery out, or disconnect the battery from the motherboard. Running the battery out can take anywhere from four to who-knows-how-many hours, but it involves only patience and no disassembly.

Mark, try this procedure which is Battery Conditioning process we've been using since the 680 came out. Plug the phone into the charger, not a cradle, then remove the battery for 2 minutes, replace the battery, then don't touch anything, no buttons, nothing, just ignore it. Hopefully the phone will reset, and remove any SD card before doing this. Leave the phone on the charger for several hours. Then check if you have something other than the white screen. If so then try a HotSync, 'tho I think I'd toss that game.
