Wanting to switch to a Palm Treo, but which one?

I've been reading the threads in both the Palm Treo 680 and Palm Treo 750 for hours since I'm going to switch to one or the other since my phone died. Not a smartphone either and I had Palm Tungsten TX once but I managed to give it away...but I was in a different place from where I am now. I seriously need advice.

The differences seem minimal to me if I got 680 I get the Palm OS and lousy battery or 750 Windows(kill me now) and lousy battery. Since I've made the jump to Vista, no choice, it came with the computer I'd rather not Windowize my life anymore but if it is better than Palm OS I might.

I would use the Palm as a phone, maybe to read books on, Tetris if I can get it, maybe Bejeweled(my mother raves about this) and I'd love to switch to using it as a MP3 player since my IPod Nano is version 1 and it locks up a lot...I can see either is great for using addresses, which my mother does, and alarms for tasks and reminders...I just can't seem to figure out which would be better for what I want to use it for.

I won't be getting internet on it since I get NO SIGNAL whatsoever in my house in the desert I have to walk down the street. I've tried with eight different phones; I promise you it isn't the phones. I rarely use texting since I use the phone mainly while in the car driving 100 miles to the nearest real city to do anything important.

So if you can please help I'd appreciate it. I want to make the switch and figure if I get the Palm as part of a phone I might actually use the Palm part.

RichC will become famous soon enough
Although I have a 700p ... you really can't go wrong with a Centro. (if you don't mind a tiny keyboard and have good eyes )

The Centro is a good choice, though battery life would be worse than the 680 due to it's smaller size. You can bet though that extended life batteries (that don't require a different back) will be released soon.

I honestly prefer Windows Mobile now that I'm using it. But it's a matter of preference. Try a 680 for a week, then a 750, if you like the 680 more, try the Centro. Remember that you have 30 days to try a phone and if you don't like it you can return it.

Well actually AT&T will let me upgrade to either the 680 or 750 for under $50. The Centro is more like $200. So it has to be one or the other. Guess I will have to drive 200 miles round trip for this decision. There is no real store that carries them any close. I've called the local stories but they aren't real AT&T stores.

Oh well../shrug

techgirlz you might try ebay they have on line stores that are licensed resellers for most providers and they can get you an upgrade on the cheap as well. I was looking at the 750 which I bought on ebay w/o a contract when I could also upgrade and they had some interesting deals failrly cheap. On spend a little more money and get what you want without a contract. I got my 750 bnib for $370 including s/h about 14 months ago. I took about 4 days to get the phone but I slipped my sim card in and it was working. You can use your current phone until it gets there and still have your old phone as a backup or sell it as well after the new one gets to you.

Strange as the Centro is the cheapest of the three

The 750 has a better spec than the 680 and would work with Vista better but the 680 is the easier of the two to use. I'd push AT&T and see if they can give you a better deal on the Centro

Are you up for contract renewal? If so, the Centro is $199, but with a $100 mail in rebate. I just bought one for my wife yesterday.
