![]() ![]() | Wall Street Article: Centro VS Pearl's Glimmer Hey everybody, Today’s Wallstreet Journal had a rather flattering (very long) review of the Centro vs the new BB Pearl 8130. The title of the article was “Palm’s Centro Tries to Steal Pearl’s Glimmer”. The review was in the “Personal Journal” section in the Mossberg Solution, by Katherine Boehret (spelled correctly, I double checked). She says it looks like a “hip, miniature version of the more expensive Palm Treo”. (She had the gall to call us GEEKS!!!!!) She really liked the touch screen, camera, expandable memory etc. She credited Palm with trying to reach the 20-30 something target audience who don’t want a “large, geeky looking device”. Nor do they want to pay a lot. She said the Centro needed to be thinner, that the small keyboard took some getting used to but did not like the BB’s navigational trackball, and that the scrolling thing got to be tiresome. She had the nerve to call the Centro “CHUBBY” (personal commentary: I do not like anyone calling either me or my phone “chubby”) The Centro had 320x320 screen which was brighter, she liked that. She said the Centro felt like a regular phone up against her ear, rather than the “clunky, rectangular Treos or BlackBerrys”. She also liked that the Centro will fit inside her SMALLEST PURSE. (ahhh sooo, this is what’s important). She liked the home screen and the “IM” link where she could log in and use three instant mess. programs simultaneously. Good speakers, better battery life than BB. She in the end RECOMMENDS THE PALM CENTRO IS THE BEST OPTION: . (actually she says “a good option”) and that the touch screen will “win you over” for navigation especially for smart phone novices. Last edited by eclair; 10-17-2007 at 06:44 PM. |

![]() | Nice! Very cool post eclair. This is the kind of stuff that I like to hear.I was just talking to a friend of mine about the same topic. He actually owns a BB Pearl.I showed him a picture of the Centro that I had on my 755p.And this was his reaction,"No Fing way!Are you kidding me?They have a Palm now that's about the same size as my Pearl?Well that blows!Because I'm stuck with this thing now. That thing is bad@ss!What!It only cost $99!What!?Dude I'm getting one.Its with Sprint?Well damn,I knew that AT&T sucked! And there's the proof."Lol.Obviously that what just his side of the conversation. But you can probably guess my side. The Palm Centro owns the BB Pearl!Period.Even Pearl owners agree.Good post eclair.Oh yeah,I named my Treo "Otep" BTW.She says hi to Chancey.lol. |
