Just a question....

**Disclaimer: This is not intended to start any new rumors, it's just a question for discussion**

The 750v is out and everyone who has one loves it. There's rumors flying that the 750w may be coming to the US on Sprint, and people are drooling. Palm has met their commitment for new Treo's this year and as of yet we've heard no murmurings, other than pure speculation, of the 750p. We all know Access is trying to push the ALP, and they've said they would like to have products running this OS next year. On the other hand we've heard rumors that Palm may well be developing their own Linux based OS, but at this point it's unconfirmed.

My question I pose for general discussion is this:
What do you fellow Treonauts think of the idea that Palm may be holding out on releasing the 750p because they might put a new OS on it, ALS or their own?

Like I said in my disclaimer, this is not to start new rumors, nor did it spawn from any rumor I have heard. I just wanted to ask everyone what they thought the chances of this happening might be, and have some fun discussion!

Intresting.

I've thought that myself. With a raft a new phones (680,750v/w, 700w/wx) released relatively recently and expected, I'd have thought now would be a good time to go back and improve the OS on the Palm side, be that with Access or home brewed.

The core issue as I see it is the competition brought about by MS's WM5. This isn't the thread for that debate, I know, but suffice it to say both OS's have features their counter parts do not. If it's one thing I know for sure, it's that MS are not afraid of duplicating/licensing/acquiring features that they think are good thus 'improving' their OS. I think Palm should do the same as well as add in their own spice as they have done with the existing WM5 implementation.

If they do I wouldn't be at all surprised if they hold back the '8xx' serious a little bit in order to launch with their new OS.

Again, speculation only -lots of if's.

In any case I've laid out $400 on a phone this year already I don't want to be tempted to lay out another $400 on another phone until at least next year...
