treo security

i have a blackberry right now and am considering switching over to a treo. before switching over i want to know what the treo's security features are? can i set a password to stop people from gaining access to my treo? can i set it so they can not read my text messgaes?

Yes, you can password protect your Treo. You can also set it where it does not display your incoming text messages. There are even programs that will allow you to delete (format) the device remotely via sms should it get lost!

Plus there's a number of high and low end encryption packages for your data...

The remote kill is extra useful....and sounds kinda cool.

one of the remote kill apps is bluepill. looks pretty cool, might be worth your time.

I'm testing it - but I can't figure out if this is freeware, shareware, or commercial? Is there a price on their website anywhere? (When I installed Blue Pill, the splash screen said it was for a "14-day trial period". So how do you purchase it after the trial ends?)

Yeah, I've read that too. If someone is seriously looking to get info from you, there's not much you can do to actually stop them. You can make it harder, but if they're serious........

Exactly. My Dad always used to say that "locks are just there to keep out honest people."

An amateur car thief can disable "The Club" steering wheel lock in about 30 seconds - but if there are two cars waiting for the taking, he'll go after the one without the steering wheel lock just because it's faster and easier. Same theory applies to security apps for our smartphones, etc.
