![]() | So I've got a few books I've put on my treo (PDFs), but now I've got a slight problem. I can't install Adobe Reader on my treo. I went over to the Adobe site expecting an option I can download the needed "PRC" files to install the reader software and my only options are Windows and MacOS binaries. So, how would one go about installing such software direct to the treo? Everything else works fantastic with my Treo and Linux... I just refuse to pay for a license for software I'm never going to use. Anyone have any solutions on this one? Note for mods: any chance for a Linux forum? |

![]() | Thanks for your help Stu. I've got a few freebie readers that don't cut it since I'm working with authenticated forms and some scripting elements. I've verified the version for WinCE works. However, not having a Mac or Windows PC makes it nearly impossible to install on my Treo. Have a look at that link again and see if you can find the link to download Adobe Reader for PalmOS. The options are only: Pocket PC, Palm OS for Windows, Palm OS for Macintosh, and Symbian OS. There is no option of "Palm OS for Linux" nor a direct install download for those without an option for Windows or Mac. Do you see where the problem is here? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I see your problem indeed, and unfortunatly can find no solution. Tell you what, PM me (if your comfortable) your email and I can extract it when I get home in the morning. Lousy IT people at work wont let me install software, ect. Sheesh...what do they know. ![]() In the mean time I'll keep looking for someone who has already done this and posted the PRC on the interweb. On a side note, a Linux could be possible. We've got a Mac and Palm one, so why not, right? I'll pass it on. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I was just reminded in another thread, the executable file you download from Adobe is a converter not a native reader, so it actually needs to be installed on your machine. Which readers have you tried so far?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Sorry SprOk3t, I just assumed you could download OTA. If its any consolation, I don't think Adobe PDF works all that well on Palm Devices. As Forgot said, you really have to have a PC to convert the PDF files first. Have you taken a look at this one? MetaViewSoft - PalmPDF I've heard good things about it. Stu |

![]() | PalmPDF is one I had not tried and it's working fantastic for my needs. It almost doesn't make sense that Adobe created a converter rather than a full reader. I mean, what's the point in that? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Glad it worked out. I don't read PDFs on my Treo, but I had read in a couple threads that people liked PalmPDF. |
