![]() ![]() | A certain user as been spamming other members PM. We're sorry about this. In the future, please notify a moderator immediately and forward a copy of the spam as one or two of you have done. You can add that user to your ignore list until we get around to dealing with it. It really doesn't need saying but, if you spam you will be banned forever and if its really annoying stuff other forums will be notified of your intentions together with your IP and MAC address (yes we get that here). ~ Steph

![]() ![]() | @optimus... probably not unsolicited though ![]() @brandon... you're lucky, according to Bush torture is now legal in the US. I've got a board in the garage.. all we need is a hose pipe - we're just following the example of the President of the United States - how can we possibly go wrong? Regards, ~ Steph

![]() ![]() | Well it seems no one likes vista even the guys at MS http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/09/bu...gy&oref=slogin Though MS officially still think it's just a little pricy, no-one big has stepped up yet and said, balls out, it just sucks to actually use. What do I mean? Leave aside all the tales of woe regarding upgrades and lack of working drivers etc. The operating system is just a pain to use if you plan to do anything other then double click IE. You can make it a bit easier by switching off User Access Control, which was destined to fail the moment it was conceived - - I need to ask permission to move this file - A user is trying to move this file do you approve? - You've been granted permission do you still wish to move the file? - Moving file... "please wait 1 minute to move this 38K document" It's obviously designed to 'protect' beginner users, which is fine by me but why didn't they just ask you what type of user you are so that intermediate and advanced users won't be suffering... I wonder if the productivity of MS employees has fallen since they were forced to move to Vista or you think they've secretly moved back to XP? Just looking around forums (especially Dells) it seems anyone capable is switching back to XP - it's not just unfamiliarity with the new OS it's the fact it gets in the way of things. Worryingly for MS, gamers aren't putting up with it at all hence the only machines you can still buy with XP installed (other than for business) are the gamer rigs, what does that tell you about the traditionally early adopter segment with much deeper pockets? It was tried (with quite some enthusiasm I seem to remember) and then ultimately discarded. To me it was kind of like having a PC where both McAfee and Norton's Protect everything 'suites' were installed with no hope of uninstalling them. I formatted and installed XP Pro. Scr*w that. If Vista ever becomes a challenger I still have my Vista key. I can see the 'end of life' date for XP being moved further and further into the future. ~ Steph

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Vista will be a player in the corporate sector soon though I'm betting. My company has delayed its innitial switch, which was going to be last november, but I can't say for how long. The higher ups in IT are running it full time now with few issues, but we have some dependance on Office 2003, and when we go to Vista we'll be going to Office 2007 at the same time. On my current home machines, Vista is fairly slow. Though I can't say I dislike some of the UAC stuff, I agree that it is over the top.
